The United Nations Security Council is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations, founded in 1945 due to World War II. The Council is one of the most powerful organs in the United Nations due to its role in facilitating peace throughout the globe. This organ's primary purpose is to provide recommendations to resolve the dispute at hand, impose sanctions, and authorize the use of force. Furthermore, unlike any other committee, the Permanent Five (P5) members' veto power gives the UNSC a uniquely intense ability that other organs do not have.
Due to the unique nature of the UNSC, this committee is specifically designed for experienced delegates wishing to challenge themselves in their MUN career.
Position papers are strongly recommended for this committee, and are mandatory for award consideration.
